Position Title: Accounting Manager
Job Location: Northbrook, IL (5 days on-site with some remote flexibility once established)
Compensation: $110,000-125,000 5-10% Bonus
Direct Reports: 4 total (2 AR/AP, 2 Staff Accountants)
Position Description:
- Primary responsibilities include supervision of the monthly close process, billings to clients for services provided, billing reimbursements from clients, collection of accounts receivable, supervising accounts payable, internal control development/monitoring, account reconciliation, and monthly management reporting.
- The Accounting Manager will also be part of a team that creates and implements policies and procedures to identify, resolve and document accounting issues in addition to creating procedures to make the close and reporting processes more efficient and accurate.
Scope of Responsibilities:
- Ensure financial statements are prepared in accordance with GAAP accounting principles
- Manage the monthly reporting and analysis process
- Owner of the Great Plains accounting system
- Manage the accounts payable and accounts receivable process
- Develop and maintain a strong internal control environment
- Serve as liaison for the annual external audit and serves as the primary point of contact
- Serve as liaison with external tax provider on the completion of corporate tax returns (federal and state)
- Manages relationships with banks (cash management and leasing arrangements)
- Monitors performance of direct reports and provides prompt and objective feedback to team
- Acts within scope of authority consistent with company and corporate policies
- Assume other special projects as directed
Requirements/Preferences:
• 7 years of experience in financial and accounting management
• Master’s degree in Accounting preferred
• CPA designation
• Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains experience
• Knowledge and application of GAAP accounting
• Proven ability to organize, lead and motivate a large team
• Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience
• Solid oral and written communication skills
• Bias to action and sense of urgency
• Experience with change management and project management activities
• Experience in the hospitality industry preferred
• Strong system skills including intermediate/advanced Excel skills and comfort in managing and manipulating large amounts of data
