What are the responsibilities and job description for the Supplier Quality Engineer position at Prestolite Electric, Leece-Neville North America?
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Facilitate and promote the use of appropriate problem-solving techniques for effective root cause analysis and successful corrective action at Prestolite and our suppliers.
- Perform supplier audits to ensure compliance with IATF 16949 and ISO 9001 standards and to check corrective actions as required.
- Work with Supply Chain group to investigate new suppliers for their ability to meet requirements.
- Work with suppliers through APQP requirements and develop supplier skills where required.
- Review supplier PPAPs per AIAG and Prestolite requirements.
- Work in Supplier Component Qualification process team.
- Work with Prestolite internal team to collect data about internal supplier quality issues and communicate with the supplier, escalate as necessary, and ensure that the corrective actions are appropriate.
- Generate Supplier score cards and facilitate projects to improve any unfavorable trends.
- Recommend and implement enhancements to the Prestolite quality system
- Recommend and support enhancements to supplier quality systems.
Specific Knowledge and Abilities
- Work experience in an automotive or Heavy Truck manufacturing environment is a plus. Work experience in a manufacturing environment with demonstrated advanced technical problem-solving skills also considered.
- Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline or significant work experience in similar roles considered.
- Experience working within Quality Management system requirements, ISO9001, or IATF 16949 in the automotive or truck industry is required.
- Demonstrate a results-oriented mindset – maintain appropriate focus on short- and long-term goals. Motivated by achievement, and persists until goals are reached, conveying a sense of urgency.
- Demonstrated experience with varying forms of problem-solving documentation such as 8D, 5Why, etc required.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office, Minitab, Oracle or similar ERP software systems and applications. Ability to efficiently and effectively navigate web-based Customer portals.
- Able to communicate clearly and confidently with a wide range of audiences including Customers, Managers, plant personnel, etc.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally to visit Suppliers.
- Able to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Approximate split of time will be 30% visiting suppliers, 30% in the Arcade, NY office / manufacturing facility and up to 40% remotely as desired.
