What are the responsibilities and job description for the Junior Staff Accountant position at Preston Refrigeration?
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Junior Staff Accountant to join our dynamic team. The finance team oversees a total of five entities and processes a large number of transactions each month. In this role, you will be supporting the accounts payable department to ensure proper classification, AP reconciliation, month-end closing responsibilities, and more.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reconcile transactions within accounts payable.
- Track expenditures and oversee departmental spending.
- Prepare and execute wire transfers and ACH transactions within bill.com.
- Support month-end closing activities.
- Assist Operational Accountant with Intercompany JE's
- Process vendor invoices within accounts payable.
- Handle accounts payable for subcontractor invoices.
- Aid the AP Lead with financial reporting tasks.
- Support the Operational Accountant in maintaining the inventory of fixed assets and inventory.
- Ensure the accuracy of the accounting system and ERP financial reports; facilitate accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing.
- Monitor business performance metrics and report outcomes to the AP Lead.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure precise recording of financial transactions.
- Address accounts payable inquiries promptly and meticulously.
- Manage email communications and maintain effective relationships with vendors.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
- 1-2 years of experience in an accounting role.
- Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel.
- Hands-on experience with accounting software, preferably QuickBooks Online.
- Skilled in using computers and quick to learn new software.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to handle sensitive, confidential information.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred, but not required.
