What are the responsibilities and job description for the Host/Hostess - Preston's Steakhouse position at Preston's Steakhouse?
Summary of Position:
Work within the culture of a professional high volume restaurant serving top quality food and beverage. Welcome warmly and sincerely each guests on arrival. Escort them to their table. Make a good first and last impression an each guest you come in contact with. Manage seating charts and systems as well as relay pertinent information regarding guest requests to and management while caring enough to do it well by adhering to company commitments.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide a smile and friendly greeting of guests, use guest name, confirm number in party, ask guests for their seating preference and special needs, walk with guest, at their pace, to the table, inform server / manager of special needs.
- Present menus to guests and inform server of guests present at the tables out of their section, return the front desk to greet guests, and check dining room for guests who are ready to leave.
- Hold knowledge of the floor plan, server station assignments and table numbers.
- Inspect menus for cleanliness and freshness change out when necessary.
- Walk through the dining rooms, restrooms, note and correct any irregularities ( light bulbs out, supplies low or out )
- Retrieve reservation books and learn how to use Open Table effectively.
- Maintain accurate seating chart, rotation and cover tally.
- Able to make reservations accurately and courteously.
- Answer phones with knowledge of the restaurants operations and direct guests for further assistance.
- When possible, open the front door for guests entering or leaving the restaurant with a smile.
- Acknowledge and thank exiting guests, and them to return, ask how their dining experience and follow through with a manager with any guests issues.
- When immediate seating is limited, record guest names and number of people in party in Open Table.
- When closing, inspect for cleanliness and prepare the station for the next day.
- Attend all scheduled staff meetings and supplemental training sessions.
- Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a managers that enables getting along with guests, vendors, co-workers and management.
- Provide guests with correct estimated waiting time.
- Accommodate special seating requests for guests whenever possible.
- Seat guest guests based on guest preferences and balancing of customer flow in service stations.
- Upon seating, offer guests a menu and inform them of their server’s name. Inspect table for proper presentation and completeness.
Qualifications:
- Previous restaurant experience required.
- Current Food Handlers Card.
- Be able to working in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours).
- Be able to communicate clearly and effectively in the predominant, English, language(s) of our guests.
- Due to constant public health contact, grooming is a factor of the utmost importance and must adhere to appearance code guidelines as set forth in the Employee handbook.
- Must maintain exceptional grooming habits and support neat appearance.
- Must enjoy extensive guests and employee contact.
- Ability to maintain a pleasant disposition and function effetely in high stress / pressure environment.
