Preston Taylor Community Health Centers Inc , is composed of a team of dedicated health care professionals that have at heart the mission of the organization of providing comprehensive primary health care services to the residents of the four-county service area of West Virginia in Preston, Taylor, Tucker, and Grant Counties regardless of their ability to pay. This is accomplished through the provision of primary care services that are culturally sensitive and relevant to the needs of the community.
In supporting the delivery of activities deriving from 6 Community Health Care Medical Centers, 2 Pharmacies, 2 Dental Centers, an Optometry Office, and a School Based Health Center, we are seeking an Optometry Technician to join the organization. This position will work from Community Eye Care located in Grafton, West Virginia.
Primary Responsibilities:
· Follow guidelines per HIPAA regarding patient’s PHI, OSHA, and other organizational policies and procedures regarding patient care
· Pre-screen patients by charting patient’s medical history and administering diagnostic tests
· Educate patients on their insurance coverage and vision benefits
· Train patients on proper contact lens use and care
· Accurately and thoroughly document optometry exams and procedures as they are being performed by the doctor.
· List all appropriate diagnoses and symptoms as well as follow-up instructions and prescriptions as directed by the doctor
· Perform other duties as delegated, assigned, and required.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma
- Experience preferred with optometry services
- Strong computer skills and proficiency with electronic health records
- Strong communication skills and knowledge of the communities of which we serve
- Must be well organized with a strong attention to detail and accuracy
