A Chemical Operator is responsible for a variety of tank farm tasks including chemical blending, testing solutions, bulk loading of trucks and off-loading railcars.
Your role at Prestone
- Unload raw material trucks / railcars and perform incoming inspection, test and COA evaluation.
- Blend, test, and transfer antifreeze batches.
- Control/maintain Tank Farm raw material tank levels and inventories.
- Perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on Tank Farm equipment.
- Inspect, load and test OEM trucks; maintain and calibrate laboratory test equipment and perform analytical tests on antifreeze and raw materials; ordering of supplies for test station; maintain strict adherence to ISO/QS standards.
- Experience working with and around chemicals to produce antifreeze and windshield washer fluid.
- Basic math skills required
- Ability to read and write comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- At minimum, a high school diploma or equivalent
- Previous chemical blending experience required of 2 years
- Previous experience with bulk loading and off-loading of rail cars preferred
- A good portion of the primary activities are performed outdoors; the Tank Farm Blender will be subject to inclement weather therefore, ability to handle all-weather conditions.
- Must be able to work with and carry heavy equipment, tools, large industrial valves, chemical hoses, raw material containers, etc.
