Commercial Lending/Real Estate Associate Attorney
Preti Flaherty, one of New England’s largest law firms with offices in ME, NH, MA, and Washington, D.C. is seeking an experienced Attorney to join the firm’s dynamic and growing Corporate practice group. This hybrid position is based in our newly renovated headquarters in downtown Portland, ME, and offers an engaging roster of work on federal and local tax issues on behalf of Preti’s regional and national business clients as well as individual clients.
Candidates should have substantial experience in transactional tax work, with meaningful exposure to M&A and real estate transactions. Seeking candidates interested in being based in either our Concord, NH office or Portland, ME office.
Preti’s tax practice is a part of, and works intimately with, the Firm’s Corporate & M&A Group and Real Estate & Finance Group. The successful applicant will advise on a wide array of tax matters from state and local tax issues and entity selection to tax credit deals and tax structuring of sophisticated M&A transactions.
Education and Experience Required
- 6 years in transactional tax, with a minimum of 4 years of related experience in a law firm setting.
- Experience with tax considerations relating to real estate investments and transactions (e.g. LIHTC transactions, 1031 transactions, rehabilitation/historic tax credit transactions).
- Experience with partnership taxation, corporate tax and M&A structuring.
- Additional experience with state and local tax law in New Hampshire and Maine preferred.
- Tax LLM preferred.
- New Hampshire and/or Maine bar admission or willingness and ability to secure same within 12 months.
