Pretium Engineering is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Electrical Engineering Intern to join our team for a one-year internship. This is an excellent opportunity for a student or recent graduate to gain hands-on experience in the design and analysis of electrical systems within a dynamic and collaborative environment. Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the design and development of electrical systems including lighting, power, distribution, and fire alarm systems.
- Support electrical calculations for overcurrent protection, equipment sizing, voltage drop, and load analysis.
- Participate in the preparation of technical reports, drawings, and specifications.
- Assist with the preparation of construction documents using AutoCAD and/or Revit.
- Conduct site visits to collect data and verify installations.
- Collaborate with senior engineers to ensure compliance with project schedules and technical specifications.
- Review project drawings and ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards.
- Communicate with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders as required.
- Participate in team meetings and provide input on design decisions.
Educational Background:
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Design experience in lighting, power, distribution, and/or fire alarm systems.
- Knowledge of electrical calculations for overcurrent protection, equipment sizing, voltage drop, and load analysis.
- Familiarity with relevant electrical codes and standards such as the Ontario Building Code (OBC) and Ontario Electrical Safety Code (OESC).
- Proficient in AutoCAD and/or Revit for creating and modifying electrical drawings.
- Experience with lighting calculation software (e.g., AGI) is a strong asset.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel for report writing and data analysis.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly document and present findings.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and take initiative.
- Strong organizational skills and a proactive approach to project work.
- Knowledge of energy efficiency standards and sustainable design principles.
- Experience with renewable energy systems and solutions.
- Previous internship or work experience in electrical engineering or related field.
- Familiarity with electrical simulation software (e.g., ETAP, SKM PowerTools).
