ATGPAC (Afloat Training Group Pacific) is tasked with training and certifying all Pacific Fleet ships to ensure they meet evolving standards for naval and joint combat operations. This requires a dynamic, flexible approach to training, with ATGPAC delivering both in-person and distributed training across a broad spectrum of maritime missions. Special focus is placed on training shipboard teams to independently maintain and enhance combat readiness throughout deployment cycles.
Key Responsibilities:
ATGPAC’s distributed training includes computer-based simulations and Live, Virtual Constructive (LVC) events conducted in the ATGSD Battle Lab. Distributed training integrates live and synthetic training services for ships and teams, including Final Battle Problems (FBP), Inport Training Exercises (MITE), and various certification events. Using systems like the Navy Continuous Training Environment (NCTE), Tactical Data Links (TDL), and the Mission Distribution System (MDS), ATGPAC ensures the readiness of the Pacific Fleet for diverse operational scenarios.
This training relies on collaboration with Tactical Training Group Pacific (TTGP), which coordinates virtual training through the Fleet Synthetic Training (FST) Program and supports the Distributed Training Architecture (DTA) as designated by Commander, Pacific Fleet (CPF).
Requirements
Operational Experience:
- Extensive warfare experience in implementing the Task Group Concept as an Air Defense Warfare Commander (AMDC/W), or as a senior staff member for a Task Group/Force Commander, or as a Senior Facilitator with equivalent training experience for warfare commanders or senior staff.
- Proficiency in operating tactical training systems such as Joint Semi-Automated Forces (JSAF) and Multi-System Automated Remote-Control Interface (MARCI).
- Experience in naval warfare operations, training for naval warfare, or equivalent joint experience.
Scenario Development and Systems Expertise:
- Scenario development, training configuration, and operational experience with one or more of the following systems:
- Modeling and Simulation
- Joint Semi-Automated Forces (JSAF)
- Multi-System Automated Remote-Control Interface (MARCI)
- Battle Force Team Trainer (BFTT)
- Tactical Data Information Links, including Link 11/16, Satellite-J, and Link 16
- Global Command and Control System – Maritime (GCCS-M)
- Tactical Voice/Data Communications
Preferred Knowledge:
- Advanced knowledge of AAW Tactics, Navy OPTASK, and technical systems.
- Familiarity with US Navy surface ship C5I systems and embedded training systems for synthetic training.
- Understanding of detailed data exchange requirements across operational areas to maximize mission readiness.
- Strong knowledge of the Surface Force Training and Readiness Manual (SFTRM), Composite Warfare Commander construct, fleet operations and planning, and Fleet Synthetic Training architecture.
Security Clearance:
- Active Secret Security Clearance required.
