Position Summary
West Ascension Parish Hospital is seeking a dedicated and reliable Temporary Environmental Services (EVS) Technician for a 3-month contract assignment. This position plays a critical role in maintaining a safe, clean, and sanitary environment for patients, visitors, and staff in accordance with infection control and hospital sanitation standards.
The EVS Technician will report directly to the EVS Lead and will have a secondary reporting relationship to the Chief Operating Officer (COO). This temporary assignment will provide support during a period of increased operational need and is expected to last for three (3) months, with the potential for extension based on hospital needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Perform routine and deep cleaning of patient rooms, offices, restrooms, hallways, and common areas.
· Use appropriate cleaning agents, supplies, and equipment as directed and in accordance with infection control guidelines.
· Collect and properly dispose of medical and general waste, including regulated waste and sharps containers.
· Replenish supplies such as toilet paper, paper towels, soap, and hand sanitizer.
· Follow isolation room procedures, terminal cleaning protocols, and other specialized cleaning assignments.
· Report any safety hazards, maintenance issues, or equipment malfunctions to the EVS Lead.
· Adhere to hospital safety, confidentiality, and infection control policies and procedures.
· Exhibit professionalism and respect in interactions with patients, staff, and visitors.
Qualifications, Education & Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Prior custodial or housekeeping experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
Familiarity with hospital cleaning protocols and infection control practices a plus.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
· Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
· Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean and safe environment.
· Strong work ethic and reliability in completing assigned duties.
· Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs and stand or walk for extended periods.
· Willingness to work flexible shifts, including evenings or weekends, if needed.
Employment Terms:
Duration: 3-month temporary contract.
Schedule: Full-time, hours to be determined by EVS Lead.

Benefits: Not eligible for hospital benefits due to temporary status.
