What are the responsibilities and job description for the Expanded Duties Dental Assistant position at Price & Associates Family Dentistry?
Our established family dental practice is seeking to add a dental assistant to our growing team! We are seeking someone who is competent, driven, and hard working. Applicants should be passionate about dentistry, determined to make a difference, and committed to making our patients feel special. Candidates should be skilled in providing direct and indirect patient care, have attention to detail, and be able to work as a team with other staff to give patients the best experience possible.
Some responsibilities for this position will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Welcoming patients into the dental office
- Prepare patients for treatment or exams while ensuring their comfort in the office
- Taking vitals (BP, Pulse) and reviewing / updating patient's medical history
- Select and set up instruments, equipment, and materials needed
- Communicating and building a rapport with patients
- Sterilizing instruments according to set regulations
- Assist the dentist with a variety of procedures (4-handed dentistry)
- Assist the hygienists as needed with seating patients, taking x-rays, intraoral photos, and more
- Undertake lab tasks as instructed, including taking and pouring up impressions
- Provide oral hygiene instructions, discuss the importance of dental health in relation to overall health, and provide post-operative care instructions with the help of the dentist and dental hygienist
- Review treatment plans with patients and help answer their questions about specific treatment options with the help of the dentist and dental hygienist
- Stocking and cleaning the operatories, sterilization, and common areas
- Scheduling appointments
- Maintain accurate patient records, including clinical notes and patient ledgers
In-office training will be provided. However, some skills we are looking for are listed below:
- Excellent communication and people skills required.
- Knowledge of general dental terminology, including tooth numbers, restorative terminology, etc..., is preferred, not required.
- Knowledge of dental instruments and sterilization methods is preferred, but not required.
- Understanding and adherence to health & safety regulations, including OSHA protocols, required.
- Understanding and adherence to HIPAA regulations required.
- Organization skills, reliability, and attention to detail are required.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Experience with computers, including dental software, is preferred, but not required. (Our practice uses Dentrix.)
- Completion of Dental Assistant program at certified school is preferred.
- Experience as a Dental Assistant is preferred.
- Expanded Duty Dental Assistant certification is preferred, but not required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $12.00 - $15.00 per hour
