The position will plan, implement, and coordinate safety programs to prevent or correct unsafe working conditions and improve overall safety. This position is expected to implement best practices regarding health, safety, and environmental standards.

The Safety Manager is responsible for coordinating and implementing environmental health and safety programs to ensure compliance with regulatory agency guidelines and safe working conditions for all employees for our Suwanee location. The position will plan, implement, and coordinate safety programs to prevent or correct unsafe working conditions and improve overall safety. This position is expected to implement best practices regarding health, safety, and environmental standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain the EH&S vision for the plant.
- Responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local legislation and codes governing environmental health and safety.
- Facilitates accident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions. Provides recurrence prevention programs and procedures.
- Responds and aids in emergency situations.
- Identify company safety training needs and develop and coordinate safety training programs.
- Lead initiatives to implement engineering controls to minimize safety, ergonomic, and occupational health hazards.
- Complete all environmental reporting to local and federal agencies as the law requires. Ensure accuracy and timely filing of reporting. Ensure proper programs and standards are in place for environmental compliance.
- Monitor in-house EHS programs to ensure operational effectiveness, including proper procedures, documentation, and personnel updates and/or training.
- Maintain and update safety procedures, authorization lists, evacuation lists, safety posters, etc.
- Inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards and to ensure safety regulation compliance,
- Selection, inventory, and distribution of personal protective equipment and first aid supplies.
- Manage Worker’s Compensation claims by investigating the circumstances and the claimed injury objectively while minimizing the cost and fraudulent claims. Act to prevent reoccurrence.
- Lead the plant’s Safety Committee with a focus on raising safety awareness and creating an environment free from incidents,
- Administer and maintain the SDS Program.
- Develop metrics to support and drive safety performance
- Maintain OSHA 300 Log
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelors Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, or related discipline.
- 8 years experience as a safety leader in a manufacturing environment.
- CSP preferred.
- Worker’s Compensation claims/case management
- Environmental and regulatory compliance responsibility
- Working knowledge of Federal and State OSHA safety and health regulations.
- Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization to enlist needed cooperation in implementing regulatory requirements.
- Ability to work with regulatory agencies, consultants, and other contractor personnel.
