Job Title: Event Assistant (Part-Time)
Location: Austin, TX
Pay: $22.66/hr W2
Work Schedule: Part-Time (Hours will vary, including evenings, weekends, and holidays)
Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Event Assistant to support event setup, execution, and breakdown. Reporting to the Special Events Coordinator, this role involves working with multiple teams and independently to ensure smooth event operations. The Event Assistant will assist in preparing venues for a variety of events, including groundbreakings, ceremonies, parades, trade shows, and community events.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with event setup, execution, and teardown, including décor, entertainment, and catering.
- Support the development of event schedules (run of shows) for internal and external events.
- Provide event support such as registration check-in, wayfinding, and guest assistance.
- Maintain cleanliness and operational efficiency of event areas.
- Coordinate with event staff to complete job requirements.
- Handle and store event equipment (tables, chairs, flags, shovels, risers, etc.).
- Organize and track event materials during setup and breakdown.
- Inspect and maintain event equipment to ensure proper condition.
- Adhere to safety and security policies, ensuring all team members follow guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 1 year of event planning or coordination experience.
- Valid Driver’s License required.
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or in a team.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently.
- Comfortable working on your feet for extended periods.
- Positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:
- Work is primarily outdoor, with exposure to varying weather conditions.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, crawl, balance, and reach for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds without assistance.
- Position may require irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
