Job Title : Financial Analyst II, Accounting

JOB SUMMARY
The Financial Analyst reports directly to the Program Manager-Technical Accounting. This position is responsible for providing financial information to management by preparing, researching, or analyzing accounting data; preparing intermediate level reports and financial statements.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare financial reports including consolidated annual financial statements, grant reports, and other ad hoc reports requested by leadership, auditors, grantors, or other stakeholders.
Manage and maintain financial systems including Oracle EPM, LeaseQuery, and other financial software used by the Controller's department.
Collect, analyze, and summarize account information and trends by applying intermediate skills and knowledge of accounting and reporting requirements using Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Help the Accounting team including general ledger, project accounting, fixed assets, accounts payable, and payroll as needed with the heavy workload and meeting deadlines.
Ensure transactions are processed in accordance with Client's policies, applicable laws and regulations, and sound business practices.
Assist departments, auditors, and other customers by providing policy / procedures, financial
information, and / or guidance with automated or manual systems.
Serve as a resource in accounting research for the client. Research and stay current on new guidance,
publications, standards, and emerging trends related to accounting.
Assist with special accounting projects as directed by the Program Manager-Technical Accounting.
Maintain a safe working environment by following safety and security policies.
Perform other duties as required and / or assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience :
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Related experience may be substituted on a year for year basis up to four (4) years.
One (4) year of progressively responsible experience reconciling financial accounts, preparing and reporting financial data, and maintaining complex databases.
Two (3) years of experience working in Windows environment (Word, Excel) utilizing financial application software.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or other relevant professional certification.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
Knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping procedures.
Knowledge of financial reporting concepts and preferred business practices.
Knowledge of the preparation process for financial statements in conformity with GAAP.
Skill in effective verbal and written communication.
Skill in analyzing and interpreting financial records.
Skill in processing large volumes of numerical data.
Skill in performing basic mathematical calculations.
Skill in classifying fiscal data and compiling division reports.
Skill in designing spreadsheets and utilizing word processing and database software.
Skill in analyzing, preparing, checking and balancing routine fiscal transactions and accounts.
Ability to prepare accurate financial statements at an intermediate level of complexity.
Ability to resolve problems or situations requiring the exercise of good judgment.
Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with other Client's employees and the public.
