Delivery Driver

Position Summary: The Driver/Installer functions as the team lead in deliveries and installation of appliances for the assigned truck route. The Driver is responsible for assisting customers and other employees with the delivery and installation process. Carries out and assumes an active role in the company by performing the responsibilities and duties for the position under the direction of local area management. Provides general direction to the assigned Helper as necessary. Completes all necessary paperwork and/or app requirements in accordance with policies and/or customer requirements.

Essential Functions:

• Responsible for the safe driving of the company truck during deliveries.

1. Reports any incidents immediately in accordance with company policy.

• Responsible for the correct preparation and installation of all appliances.
• Assists Customers with understanding delivery process, procedures, and paperwork.
• Loads and unloads appliances from company truck.
• Carries appliances safely into customer homes. Respects customer property.
• Maintains daily schedule and completes route in accordance with delivery schedule.
• Ensures mandatory phone calls are made to customers and dispatchers in accordance with policy.
• Works in warehouse as needed.
• Responsible for vehicle inspections and completes daily vehicle inspection reports.
• Maintains all equipment in good working order, including vehicle. Routinely cleans vehicle and removes all trash and personal items. Promptly reports any deficiencies to Operations Manager or Safety Manager.
• Routinely communicates with local office concerning status of deliveries, issues causing delay, weather, etc so that delivery scheduled can be reviewed and customers notified of any variance in the schedule.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

Competencies:

• Must pass a drug screen.
• Must pass certification process which includes a driver road test, drug screen and safety training (video) completion.
• Must be able to complete and pass a DOT physical required for driving commercial vehicles after hire.
• Must have good communication skills with the ability to communicate with consumers, managers, and employees on all levels.
• Must be able to read and understand installation manuals.
• Must be able to use apps and programs associated with deliveries and/or customers.
• Must have the ability to prioritize and be aware of things need to be done.
• Must be able to advise and listen to customer complaints and problems.
• Must be able to solve problems that arise with customers.
• Must have the ability to perform all tasks listed in the job description; which includes lifting and moving objects up to 150 pounds.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

• This position operates a warehouse environment as well as driving a 24’ box truck or larger and completes work within customer homes.
• This role routinely uses standard lifting equipment and straps. Uses and maneuvers hand trucks.
• Drivers must be able to lift/maneuver at 150 pounds with dolly, on and off trucks, and upstairs frequently.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, and read. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms forward and overhead.
• Must be able to bend, stoop, lift, push, pull, climb stairs, stand, sit, reach.
• This position requires the use of tools which are to be supplied by the employee and brought to work on a daily basis.
