What are the responsibilities and job description for the SIH Supervisor position at PRIDE Enterprises?
JOB SUMMARY: Develops training programs for inmate workers that meet PRIDE industry needs and prepares inmate workers for post-release employment. Administers and interprets assessments and tests. Supervises all pre-release training programs at the industry level. Manages the inmate idleness reduction program and personnel in conjunction with FDC.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.
- Assist inmate participants in developing the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for employment through the development of certified training programs that meet PRIDE industry needs.
- Participate in program planning and evaluation; identify needs and develop resources and strategies to ensure that program goals are met.
- Oversee the SIH.
- Become certified as an Administrator for Aztec, and other Training Systems. Increase inmate participation in testing programs.
- Supervise the inmate idleness reduction program to include curriculum development, and selection of inmate participants.
- Enroll participants in server-based training programs, track enrollment, progress, and record program completions.
- Collaborate with FDC to ensure all GED program participants are evaluated and scheduled for Education Department tutoring as needed.
- Communicate with FDC Education supervisors at the industry to get inmates scheduled for TABE and GED testing and receive scores.
- Record program completion results in the PRIDE Inmate Database. Report monthly program results to supervisor for inclusion in SIH metrics.
- Any other duties assigned by the PRIDE Workforce Development Manager.
- Education and Experience: High School Diploma
- Language Skills: Strong verbal, written, and electronic communication skills.
- Mathematical Skills: Advanced math skills.
- Reasoning Ability: Critical thinking, reading comprehension.
- Specialized Knowledge and/or Skill: • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, proficiency in Excel • Detail oriented, strong initiative, and resourcefulness • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with all levels of management • Ability to work independently • Well organized, initiative-taking problem solver

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk or listen. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Position is inside a correctional institution in a designated office space.
