About the Role :

Pride Foundation's Scholarships Program Officer is a key position within the Programs department. The Scholarships Program Officer brings a wealth of knowledge in building collaborative partnerships and has a deep passion for building up LGBTQ leadership that is anchored in equity and justice.

This position works in partnership with the Director of Programs to implement Pride Foundation's scholarship program and develop long-term strategies that center scholar's leadership development that is in line with Pride Foundation's values and the scholarship programs priorities.

The Scholarships Program Officer reports to the Director of Programs.

Primary Responsibilities

This role will oversee the day-to-day implementation of our scholarship program including developing key priorities and strategies for the program; project management of scholarship outreach, application, and review processes; implementing scholar support strategies; event management and coordination; data system management, and collaborating with the Community Engagement team Programs Operations Manager, and community volunteers.

Scholarship Strategies(30%)

  • Participate in overall strategy development for Scholarship program with Director of Programs, including : visioning scholarship program goals and priorities; evaluating current program structure, process, and impact, and providing recommendations on process and program restructure and changes, and developing scholar leadership development and support opportunities
  • Research best practices in scholarship management and implementation and use that knowledge to provide recommendations for strategy development
  • Create the strategy in partnership with the Director of Programs and develop the process for administering emergency funds to scholars
  • Create and lead development of scholarship program evaluation and metric tracking
  • Collaborate with Community Engagement to revise the process for engaging scholarship fundholders that is in line with Pride Foundation's values, program priorities, and is scholar-centered.
  • Work in partnership with Communications Manager and Director of Programs to create and maintain messaging framework for Scholarship program.
  • Project Management and Program Implementation (30%)

  • Lead implementation of all aspects of annual scholarship program including :
  • Creating and implementing student outreach plan that messages to target program recipients

  • Develop, maintain, and implement, application process and associated student support
  • Develop, maintain, and coordinate community participation in review process
  • Coordinate and present final docket of recommendations of program beneficiaries
  • Lead and maintain yearly program evaluation process, including providing recommendations for program improvement
  • Collaborate with Programs Administration Manager to create, evolve, and maintain a program online systems platform that is accessible and effective for scholars and community participants and identify areas of improvement
  • Partnerships & Programming (30%)

  • Identify, cultivate, and support relationships with community volunteers, including creating training and learning opportunities that deepen understanding of Pride Foundation's values and program priorities
  • Collaborate with Community Engagement to recruit volunteers as appropriate, and continually maintain clarity for donors with scholarship funds
  • With the Director of Programs, develop opportunities for supportive programming for scholars that engages community volunteers and resources
  • Organizational Culture and Racial Justice (10%)

  • Understand and integrate racial justice into individual and team workplans, and broader strategic planning efforts
  • Commit to personal growth, learning, and transformation, taking initiative to expand your understanding of racial justice and related principles, issues, and practice and how they apply to your and our work.
  • Meaningfully participate in caucus groups, organizational learning sessions, and other opportunities to shape our organizational culture
  • Work to acknowledge, address, and eliminate individual, institutional, and structural racism and its intersections with other forms of oppression in your and our work
  • Actively participate in evolving the organizational culture at Pride Foundation to be mission-focused, inclusive, values-aligned, and community-centered
  • Grow and apply the skills and practices needed to create an inclusive organizational culture including (but not limited to) : clear and kind communication, giving and receiving feedback, mutual accountability, and self-care and boundaries
  • Contribute to developing a culture of philanthropy at Pride Foundation by incorporating friend and fund raising as appropriate throughout the work
  • Qualifications : Skills and Experience

  • Meaningful commitment to Pride Foundation's mission and to building a racially just, equitable, and inclusive environment through all levels of the organization
  • Strong understanding and experience working on issues related to racial, LGTBQ , gender, geographic disparities, economic, and reproductive justice, and experience working in communities comprised of diverse people
  • Exceptional project management experience and ability to scope, plan, and implement projects and deliverables in a timely way, with attention to detail, and amidst multiple deadlines and priorities
  • Experience supporting higher education and / or post-secondary students, or working in the education field, formally or informally
  • Strong experience working with and engaging diverse volunteers
  • Ability to share ideas around strategy, both excitement and constructive critique
  • Commitment to power-sharing and shifting to communities most impacted by inequities
  • Ability to engage in clear and transparent communication
  • Experience staying engaged in a process and noticing when it is not working and shifting for the betterment of work
  • Experience with program implementation and management in a virtual setting
  • Experience with survey data collection, analysis, and synthesis
  • Experience working with diverse staff and teams toward achieving strategic goals and developing organizational culture
  • Ability to hold uncertainty with a deep feeling of investment in continuous improvement that mitigates for stagnancy
  • Experience working with LGBTQ communities and / or communities disproportionately impacted by injustice, including communities of color, trans and non-binary communities, indigenous communities and tribal nations, immigrant communities, rural communities, etc.
  • Understanding and experience working on issues related to intersectional social justice (including racial, LGTBQ , gender, disability, economic, and / or reproductive justice).
  • While not required, these are additional skills and experiences we are looking for in candidates :

  • Experience supporting students in higher education and post-secondary educational opportunities
  • Experience administering scholarship programs
  • Experience working within the nonprofit, foundation community or any environment that focused on marginalized populations through programmatic and / or financial support
  • Experience with managing database and online application systems, and project management tools like Asana
  • Location and Position Details

    This is a full time, exempt position. This position is remote, though candidates should live in or be willing to relocate to one of the five Northwest states Pride Foundation serves. Pride Foundation is place-based and our residence in the region we serve is a critical part of how we lean into our values. Staff members in the greater Puget Sound region have the option to work out of our headquarters office in Seattle. Pride Foundation has a 4-day, 32-hour work week. Flexibility to work some evenings, weekends, and occasionally travel are necessary.

    Salary & Benefits

    Pride Foundation utilizes an equitable and competitive compensation program and salary structure that includes regular Cost of Living Adjustments and raises. For this position, the salary range is $75,000-$80,000, depending on experience. This salary is non-negotiable beyond this range to counter pay inequality and uphold internal parity for salaries.

    Excellent employer-paid benefits including : medical (includes coverage of gender-confirming health services and procedures), dental, and vision coverage, plus disability insurance, employer retirement account contribution, and option to invest in an individual retirement account. Additionally, we offer 4 weeks paid vacation, 16 wellness / sick days, 3 personal days / floating holidays, 11 paid holidays, and paid family and medical leave.
