Shift: 3:00 pm - 11:00 pm (includes a 45-minute break)
Guaranteed Hours Per Week: 40 Hours
We are seeking a Certified Nurses Assistant to join our team! You will work alongside fellow caregivers to provide high quality patient care.
Responsibilities:
- Provide patient care under direction of nursing staff
- Administer prescribed medications to patients
- Sterilize and prepare medical tools and equipment
The CNA provides essential hygiene and comfort care to patients, including but not limited to bathing, toileting, oral hygiene, incontinence care, and bed making. The CNA takes and records vital signs under RN supervision, promptly notifying the RN of any significant changes. The CNA performs glucose finger sticks and collects specimens, including stool, urine, and sputum, documenting results appropriately. The CNA obtains and records daily patient weights, and observes and documents patient intake and output, ensuring accuracy.
The CNA provides a safe and secure environment for patients, promptly answering call lights and communicating any changes in patient condition to the RN. The CNA acts as a patient sitter when necessary, ensuring the safety and comfort of the patient. The CNA maintains a clean and organized nursing unit and patient room to ensure a hygienic and safe environment. The CNA identifies and addresses the unique needs of patients, adjusting care plans to accommodate individual requirements, such as age, culture, and any sensory impairments (hearing/vision).
The CNA communicates effectively with patients, families, and caregivers, adjusting language and approach to ensure understanding, based on developmental stage, literacy, and cultural context. The CNA works collaboratively as part of a healthcare team to achieve quality patient outcomes, maintaining accountability for the assigned tasks.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in nursing, patient care, or other related fields
- Ability to build rapport with patients
- Compassionate and caring demeanor
- Familiarity with medical terminology
- Ability to work well in teams
