Job Description:
Job Title: Certified Surgical Technologist
Location: Providence, RI
Schedule: 40 hours per week
Shift: 5x8 hrs (7AM - 3:30 PM)
Contract Length: 13 Weeks
Pay Range: $2200 - $2418 Weekly DOE
Overview
We are looking for a qualified certified surgical technologist to assist with the operations in our facility. You will be tasked with preparing and sterilizing the operating rooms, as well as the necessary equipment and instruments, prior to any surgical procedure. You will also be charged with preparing the patients for surgery and help provide a great patient experience overall.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establishes and maintains a sterile field by properly opening instruments and supplies using sterile techniques.
- Performs a surgical scrub before every procedure, ensuring adherence to infection control standards.
- Assists in preparing the operative field by supporting the physician in draping the patient.
- Ensures accurate identification and preservation of operative specimens for laboratory analysis.
- Secures and tests special equipment, such as electrosurgical machines and diagnostic lights, to confirm proper functionality.
- Skillfully handles surgical instruments to enhance procedural efficiency and ensure patient safety.
- Monitors the progress of surgery and promptly provides additional instruments, supplies, or materials as needed.
- Identifies and promptly corrects any breaches in sterile technique.
- Participates in sponge, needle, and instrument counts as directed by the circulating nurse to maintain procedural accuracy.
- Cleans and sterilizes contaminated instruments, equipment, and supplies, while maintaining a sanitary operating room environment.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 2 years of experience
- Certifications: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)-(NBSTSA), and BLS
