What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mental Health Clinician position at Pride Health?
Duties & Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Clinical Supervisor and the Mental Health Unit Chief in their assigned facility on Rikers Island, the Mental Health Clinician will provide quality mental health care to incarcerated adult men in need of services. Responsibilities include:
- Conducting mental health evaluations, crisis interventions, and assessments.
- Coordinating appropriate levels of mental health care and discharge planning.
- Collaborating with the Department of Correction and institutional programs to ensure patient access and proper care.
- Developing and leading group therapy sessions for mental health observation units.
- Completing required documentation, statistical reports and participating in case conferences.
- Attending clinical supervision, medical rounds and engaging in treatment planning.
- Supervising social work interns or student volunteers, if applicable.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Preference is given to applicants with experience in both assessment and treatment of adults with behavioral issues, substance use histories, and severe mental illness.
- Preference also given to applicants with inpatient or related clinical experience.
- Applicants must have DOC/PREA certification and relevant clinical experience.
Education & Licensure:
- Education: Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
- Licensure: Must hold a valid New York State License in Social Work (LMSW/LCSW), Mental Health Counseling (LMHC), or Psychology (PhD/PsyD).
