What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Peer Support Specialist position at Pride in North Carolina, LLC?
The Youth Support Specialist is someone who understands youth or young adults and can be viewed as invaluable in supporting the recovery process and achieving positive outcomes. Because a Youth Partner has experienced similar challenges in their lives (lived experience), they can often engage and communicate with youth at levels parents and/or professionals cannot. They understand the lifestyles and culture of this population and how it feels to live with behavioral health challenges.
Must have lived experience as a child or adolescent who had mental health or substance use disorder and experience in navigating the child and family-serving systems. Must be over 21 years of age and up to 32 years of age.
