Job Title: Developmental Specialist
Department: Day Habilitation
Reports To: Program Manager/Director
FLSA Status: Non Exempt / Full Time
SUMMARY
Coordinate the design and delivery of individualized Day Habilitation services to assigned individuals, with the goal of skill retention/acquisition; independence; and community integration.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Ensure clinical and programmatic planning and implementation of services as specified in DHSP to assigned participants. Participate as a member of the interdisciplinary team.
Assist individuals to understand and overcome social and emotional problems.
Train /assist assigned individuals on-site for skills acquisition, individualizing training methods according to therapeutic requirements/needs and support them to adapt to community sites, demands & expectations.
Assist individuals in developing community skills, including training of public transportation and other Developmental Skill areas. Serve as an advocate for individuals both in the program and in the community.
Maintain permanent case records including comprehensive progress notes and other data according to policy requirements. Maintain on-going communication and support with other pertinent staff regarding participant issues or services.
Participate in on-going assessment, modification, and development of program and services.
Assist individuals in personal care including transferring and use of Hoyer lift.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s Degree in Rehabilitation or related field preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Basic First Aid and Adult CPR
Valid Driver’s License and use of reliable vehicle for travel to community sites.
