Job Summary
The QA / QC Technical Reviewer (Electrical) is primarily responsible for technical review of proposed electrical plans and specifications as outlined in the description below.

Key Responsibilities :
Performs technical review of proposed electrical plans and specifications submitted by client personnel, consultant staff, or commissioned architects and engineers for construction projectsProvides review comments regarding adherence to client standards, quality of development and documentation of electrical design, coordination with other disciplines, and other technical issues as required.Provides comments, lessons learned and research to support the development and maintenance of the client’s design guidelines (e.g., school design guide, educational specifications, guide technical specifications, and standard technical drawings).Provides comments and lessons learned to update and maintain organizational policies and guides for the design of educational facilities and / or construction electrical specifications to assure conformance to building codes and safety requirements and to improve the quality and economy of construction, maintenance, and operation.Coordinates activities with those of other units of various client departments / organizations.Performs other duties as assignedRequired Skills / Abilities :
Architecture and electrical engineering practices applied to repairs, modernizations, and new construction of K-12 school building planning, design, and constructionPreparation of architectural and electrical engineering specifications and related contract documentsState and local building codes and construction industry standards and their application to school construction, including California Building Code (CBC), Cal Green Energy Code, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRE), and American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM)Architectural and electrical engineering systems of building materials and building costs Requirements of the Division of the State Architect (DSA) and California Department of Education (CDE).Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), Collaborative for High Performing Schools (CHPS) and other sustainability requirements.Commissioning processes and documentation requirementsAbility to perform quality assurance / quality control, constructability, and peer reviews of client projects in design and construction.Ability to prepare and review electrical standards and specifications for school buildings and other structures.Able to provide electrical technical review and advice on proposed product substitutions, deviations from client standards, and technical questions from Owner Authorized Representatives (OARs), inspectors, design managers, and A / E teams.Provide sustained attention to complex specifications and provide clear detailed commentsAbility to write clear and concise reports and technical descriptions for client engineering standards and project reviews.Able to work effectively with commissioned architects and engineers, client personnel, consultant staff, and representatives of public agencies.Perform quality assurance / quality control, constructability, and peer reviewsEffective verbal and written communicationEducation and Experience :
Required :
Ten (10) years full-time professional experience in electrical engineering planning, design, and construction of educational facilitiesBachelor's degree in architecture, electrical engineering, or related fieldPreferred :
A valid Certificate of Registration as an Architect by the California State Architectural Board or Professional Engineer by the State Board for Professional Engineers and Land SurveyorsA valid Certified Construction Manager (CCM) credential issued by the Construction Manager Certification Institute (CMCI)Submission Instructions ( per Client requirement )

This position is 100% on-site in our client’s office location; work schedule to be determined by supervisor. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the primary functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to move about the inside and outside of the location to access office equipment, etc. The person in this position frequently communicates with employees and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. Constantly operates a computer and other office machinery, such as a computer, copy machine, etc.
