Assistant Project Manager
Small to mid size family owned and operated Contractor supplying and installing doors/frames/hardware in commercial, multi family and industrial projects, many being prevailing wage. The owners have been in business for over 40 years. We enjoy an excellent reputation in the industry.
About The Job:
Will train the right person who is smart and willing to learn. Does not have to have any background in construction or project management if you are smart and willing to learn a new career. Recent Graduates encouraged to apply. You will review blueprints and other construction documents in order to create a list of products we would supply on our projects, including specifications, sizes, dimensions, finishes. This role requires preparing shop/purchasing lists using the blueprints as a guide along with going into the field to measure for the final product. You will work with and be instructed by our Project Managers. We would like to train this person to be a Project Manager for us which would included purchasing, customer involvement, customer service and other responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Blueprint takeoffs.
- Shop/Purchasing Lists.
- Produce estimates for projects and change orders.
- Consult with our managers and the customers representative for accuracy and completeness.
- Produce a “PreJob” project report and review with our team.
- Work with our Field Supervision and Shop Supervision as necessary.
- Prepare and follow up on change orders.
- Attend or Lead PreJob meetings as required.
- Work with our vendors and subcontractors on pricing, bidding, etc.
- Keep a working relationship with our customers at the field level.
Qualifications:
- You must be sharp, on time and ready to go everyday with a great attitude. You must enjoy the work.
- Experience reading/analyzing construction blueprints is very helpful.
- Proficient in using Word/Excel and be able to quickly learn our in house programs.
- Excellent mathematical skills with a high level of attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work independently or with our team.
- Ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
Starting Salary: entry level $60k However willing to pay more DOE
Schedule: Monday - Friday (6:30AM - 5:00PM)
Salary : $60,000
