Shift- Monday to Friday, with the occasional weekend work, 8am to 5pm
Pay Rate- 50k to 65k, BOE
Location- Capitol Heights, MD
As a Technical assistant you will be responsible for ensuring that food products meet the quality standards established both by our client company and regulatory authorities. You will need to be aware of all relevant food safety legislation, HACCP and the BRCGS quality standards.
Technical Assistant main responsibilities will include :
Management and assistance with the development of an effective quality assurance system, ensure that Quality and Food Safety are appropriately managed to meet set objectives
Ensure products safety, quality, and legality at all times by liaising within other departments, checking the process control records ensuring they are completed accurately and filed away correctly, and making sure required standards for food safety are maintained
Able to keep up with legislative requirements,industry best practices, and emerging issues by working closely with BRC standards, conducting internal audits, and assisting with the conduction of BRC audits coinciding with internal audits
Manage and complete routine micro-bacteriological and other product and safety testing in accordance with site schedules (environmental and listeria swabs, water samples, shelf life verification, air- plates and EOL analysis) while completing GMP's, fabrications, hygiene and internal audits to discuss and close out actions with relevant departments in a timely manner
Maintain a database of all raw materials, supplier approvals and certifications to ensure all raw materials and packaging are of high quality and purchased from approved suppliers.
Maintain the quality and customer technical systems by creating and updating product and raw material specifications on various computer-based systems. (example : recipes, ingredients declaration, allergen, and nutritional information)
Maintain calibration of all measuring equipment internally and externally while administering and managing all technical documentation, making sure all relevant folders, data, forms, etc. are up to date and working within the framework of the Company and ensuring all incidents are fully documented on relevant records, (metal incidents, glass breakage, etc.)
Promote a culture of quality achievement and performance improvement through a team-based environment with the manufacturing team and ensuring that any updated procedures with new legislation, customer requirements and company standards are trained when required.
Technical Assistant requirements will include :
At least 2 years of experience within a similar role
Previous internal audit experience and familiarity with BRC auditing standards
Basic computer skills
Understanding of traceability, integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism at all times
Experience and ability to compile and present management reports
Ability to work efficiently using self-initiative to resolve issues in a pressurized environment
Attention to detail and multi-tasking skills are essential
Technical Assistant qualifications include :
A relevant Food HND / Degree or equivalent
An up-to-date HACCP qualification (preferably level 3)
Internal QMS Auditor
Food Safety and Hygiene Level 3

Compensation / Pay Rate (Up to) : $25.00 - $30.00 Per Hour
