Referral Coordinator/Receptionist

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Referral Coordinator to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing patient referrals, ensuring seamless communication between healthcare providers, and maintaining accurate medical records. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, insurance verification processes, answering phone calls and patient questions, and scheduling. The Referral Coordinator will contribute to enhancing patient care by facilitating timely access to necessary services.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage patient referrals to and from specialists and other healthcare providers.
• Verify insurance coverage and eligibility for referred services.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Utilize medical coding knowledge (ICD-10) to ensure proper documentation of diagnoses.
• Communicate effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies regarding referral processes.
• Assist with front desk responsibilities to include greeting guests, scheduling and anwsering phone calls.
• Collaborate with the medical office team to streamline referral workflows and improve patient experiences.

Skills

• Proficient in medical terminology and coding (ICD-10).
• Experiencein a medical office environment is preferred.
• Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining accuracy.
• Strong communication skills
• Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems is a preferred
