What are the responsibilities and job description for the Buyer, Manufacturing position at Primal Health Limited Partnership?
SUMMARY The Buyer is responsible for sourcing the materials that go into the products our company produces. The Buyer works with the production manager to determine which raw materials and components will be used in production, sources suppliers, negotiates prices and terms of purchase, and ensures that all materials arrive on time and in good condition.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Source suppliers and review product samples and components
• Follow standard processes and methods to source cost-effective raw materials and components while maintaining product quality and availability
• Order raw materials and other component items needed to maintain adequate inventory levels
• Coordinate with suppliers and production manager to ensure adequate supplies of raw materials and component items are on hand to meet production schedule
• Review supplier contracts to ensure fair pricing terms; make recommendations to management for approval or modification
• Create and maintain procurement records, such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories
• Create and manage purchase orders in ERP system
• Discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services with quality team, supplier, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action
• Create RMA and coordinate product return activities
• Create and maintain item numbers in NetSuite for raw materials and components
• Maintain and report inventory obsolescence information; participate in physical inventory • Create and maintain detailed supplier information regarding contact, account numbers and orders in NetSuite
• Provide procurement services and transactions for facilities, fulfillment, and other groups as needed

SCOPE
•
No supervisory or managerial responsibility
•
Document, monitor and control expenditures in accordance with established budget. May contribute to departmental budget and forecasting process. Approves expenditures in line with signature authorization policy.
EDUCATION
•
High School Diploma or GED
•
Bachelor’s Degree in related field such as Supply Chain Management, Finance or Business is helpful, but not required
EXPERIENCE
•
At least three years of experience in procurement or purchasing
•
At least one year of experience in procurement for cGMP manufacturing operation; experience in dietary supplement manufacturing is a plus
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
•
Thorough knowledge of procurement procedures and negotiating practices
• Working knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP)
•
Working knowledge of entering purchase orders and RMAs, and monitoring inventory levels in NetSuite
•
Effective verbal and written communication skills to build relationships and negotiate with suppliers, and to communicate internally with management and team members
•
Sufficient analytical capability to determine appropriate material quantity and cost
•
Demonstrated ability to accurately forecast and plan production needs to meet demand
•
Basic to intermediate skills in MS365
