We are seeking a qualified Production Lead/Machine Technician who oversees daily manufacturing operations, ensuring production goals are met efficiently by coordinating general day-to-day running of the production floor and keeping downtime to a minimum. This position is also responsible for making sure that thermoforming machines are running smoothly and quality products are being produced. This position will demonstrate strong leadership capabilities including the ability to encourage, organize, motivate, and guide production staff. Responsibilities:
- Maintain production floor presence and ensure day-to-day activities stay on-task by assigning employees to work areas, managing breaks, answering questions, directing down time activities and, inspecting product quality.
- Coordinate with Management and Human Resources to staff production personnel adequately.; Assist with hiring, terminations, attendance tracking, disciplinary action, and performance reviews.
- Responsible for the training of Line Operators, Production Associate and Machine Technicians as well as possibly assisting with or covering these positions for breaks or absences.
- Communicate with other shifts and departments to ensure continuity and on-time quality product delivery.
- Make educated decisions daily regarding plastic irregularities, product documentation, and balancing quality of product with speed of production. Work with quality techs to follow quarantine procedures, if necessary.
- Perform basic machine maintenance as well as assist in daily oiling, greasing, and cleaning of machines.
- Perform start up and shut down of machines when necessary.
- Responsible for general cleanliness and safety of workspace and the manufacturing production floor.
- During jobs, stage, verify, monitor film levels on the backs of the thermoformers while seamlessly keeping the machines running during roll changes, change labels, and interact with Nice Label Solutions.
- Assist with monitoring machine settings and make adjustments on the fly to fix minor issues.
- Maintain an in-depth knowledge of defective parts and how to troubleshoot and implement solutions of frequent production issues.
- Assist with troubleshooting die cut related issues during set-up and maintain proper cutting throughout the run. This includes changing blades, sharpening blades and shimming
- Create, understand, complete, and accurately match all necessary paperwork.
- Maintain and enforce compliance to Good Manufacturing Practices, ISO, and company quality standards.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned
Minimum Skills, Knowledge & Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- At least 2 years of leadership/supervisory experience and experience with machine operation in a manufacturing environment
- Must have strong mechanical aptitude and a keen eye for quality.
- Knowledge of plastic mold production a plus
- Strong computer application knowledge (MS Office, ERP/MRP, etc.)
- Must be highly organized and able to keep track of multiple projects at once
- Must be able to read, write, communicate and understand work instructions in English
- Ability to promote and follow safe workplace practices
Physical Requirements:
- Lifting of up to 40 pounds frequently, and up to 75 pounds occasionally
- Frequently reaching, grabbing, twisting and bending
- Standing for extended periods of time
- Extended periods of concentration while safely operating machinery

Employees must maintain full cognitive and physical ability to perform tasks safely.
