Duties
- Prepare and submit accurate medical claims to insurance companies and government payers.
- Review patient records for completeness and accuracy before billing.
- Follow up on unpaid claims and resolve any discrepancies or issues with insurance providers.
- Utilize knowledge of DRG (Diagnosis Related Group) and ICD-10/ICD-9 coding to ensure proper billing practices.
- Maintain organized medical records and documentation in compliance with regulations.
- Communicate with healthcare providers regarding billing questions or issues.
- Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations and coding practices.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in medical billing, coding, or collections within a healthcare setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, medical records management, and insurance processes.
- Knowledge of ICD-10 and ICD-9 coding systems is essential.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in using medical billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients, providers, and insurance companies.
