Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Medical Biller to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate billing and coding for medical services. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding systems, and the billing process to facilitate timely payments and maintain compliance with healthcare regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrate basic computer skills and quickly learn our EMR system.
- Strong knowledge of medical billing codes, regulations, and procedures.
- Review and verify patient information and insurance details for accuracy.
- Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies promptly while ensuring compliance with all regulations.
- Utilize coding systems such as ICD-10 to accurately code diagnoses and procedures.
- Follow up on unpaid claims within 60 days, conducting medical collections as necessary.
- Resolve discrepancies in billing by communicating with healthcare providers, patients, and insurance companies.
- Resolve denied claims through research and appeals.
- Maintain organized records of all billing activities and patient accounts.
- Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations and coding practices.
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of experience in medical billing required.
- Experience with medical office operations and electronic health record (EHR) systems is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills are required to manage multiple accounts effectively.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance representatives.
