Primary PartnerCare is the MSO for a 20-site primary care practice and growing! We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Coding Specialist to join our team. In this role, you’ll validate levels of E/M coding, monitor billing trends, identify revenue gaps, and provide actionable feedback to providers for active improvement. You’ll also conduct random retrospective audits of specific procedure codes and E/M levels to ensure ongoing compliance and accuracy. Experience with Medicare HCCs is a plus, but we are happy to train.

Responsibilities
- Audit provider notes and coding, revising and correcting procedure codes and diagnosis codes
- Assign accurate level of E/M codes based on guidelines and regulations
- Assign accurate procedure codes based on presented documentation
- Review patient records for accuracy and compliance with coding guidelines and LCDs
- Identify gaps in revenue, ensuring all procedures are appropriately coded and billed.
- Document results of chart audits, scoring performance
- Educate providers in writing, and via telephone/virtual meetings when required
- Create educational materials for providers and office staff to improve the quality of coding and documentation
- Stay abreast of all new and revised codes, requirements, regulations and compliance matters
- Perform targeted internal audits and monitor performance
Requirements
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) – active certification required
- Proficiency in ICD-10 coding, including accurate diagnosis coding and documentation
- Proficiency in CPT codes (E/M, preventative care, testing, etc.), with a strong understanding of required documentation
- RCM/billing experience
- Experience creating training and education materials
- Experience and comfort level developing quality improvement plans and monitoring performance
- Passion for coding and billing and educating our providers
- Proficient in navigating EMRs (we use Athena)
- Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, communication skills
