The primary responsibilities will be with operations personnel but you could supervise maintenance including IC&E and Mechanical depending on the needs and the work being done. Job Description:
- Provide oversight and training to assigned shift personnel in normal plant operations, operation during upset conditions, applicable Federal, State, and Local regulatory requirements, and plant startups and shutdowns.
- Write, review, and revise operating procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and operational best practices.
- Oversee and provide functional direction to plant O&M personnel regarding plant operations, including startup and shutdown of main plant equipment and auxiliaries.
- Ensure that all site safety requirements and procedures are properly implemented and consistently observed. Identify safety hazards and take corrective actions as necessary.
- Conduct periodic tours of the plant to inspect equipment, provide direction, supervision, and feedback to employees, and ensure adherence to safety rules and plant procedures.
- Report upset conditions or anomalies in plant status to the Operations Manager or Lead Shift Supervisor.
- Manage plant scheduling, manpower loading, and maintenance planning and execution.
- Perform emergency operations to maintain electric service and safeguard station equipment.
- Maintain the plant’s operating log and other records accurately and timely. Approve and issue equipment Lock-out/Tag-outs as required.
- Serve as the site representative after normal hours.
- Provide supervision and direction to Plant Operators, assisting in their orientation, training, and development.
- Assist the Operations Manager in department administration, power plant management, and provide advice and counsel to both Operations and Maintenance Managers regarding the technical and administrative conduct of shift operations.
- Become the lead system representative on assigned systems.
- Support the Administration, Engineering, and Maintenance departments.
- Complete other assigned tasks as required.
- Ability to understand procedures and instructions specific to the area of assignment as would be acquired in four years of high school. Associate degree in a technical field desirable.
- Proven track record as a Control Room Operator in a power plant or similar industrial setting, with expertise in monitoring and controlling plant operations, responding to alarms, and ensuring operational efficiency.
- Comprehensive understanding of power plant operations, including normal operations, upset conditions, and regulatory compliance at federal, state, and local levels.
- Demonstrated ability to oversee and provide functional direction to plant O&M personnel, including effective supervision of shift personnel and coordination with other plant employees.
- Experience in managing plant scheduling, manpower loading, and maintenance planning and execution to ensure efficient plant operations and maintenance activities.
- Strong commitment to safety with the ability to implement and enforce site safety requirements, identify hazards, and take corrective actions as necessary.
- Proficiency in writing, reviewing, and revising operating procedures to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and operational best practices.
- Excellent communication skills to conduct plant tours, provide clear direction and feedback to employees, report plant status to management, and collaborate effectively with various departments and stakeholders.
- Must possess a valid and unrestricted driver's license, ensuring it remains in good standing at all times
