Position purpose - Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks
The purpose of this position is to apply conceptual accounting principles and techniques to the preparation and review of financial and accounting transactions. This will include accounts payable, maintain spreadsheets, balance bank statements, reissue checks for borrowers, reverse entries in the Servicing Platform MSP and assist PMSI (our Investor Reporting vendor) with oversight and support for reporting, custodial accounting, loan level accounting and balancing.
General Duties
- Create accurate records of custodial funds
- Maintains policies and procedures regarding investor accounting, reporting, and remittance cycles
- Balance various custodial and corporate bank statements and identify funds coming in and going out of each account
- Ensure the validity of bills received and determine where funds should be sent.
- Identify and utilize correct General Ledger account numbers for each expense and type of income
Qualifications
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent writing and editing skills
- Ability to effectively and professionally handle difficult situations that may arise when working with SLC Corporate Accounting team and fellow team members
- Ability to multi-task
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Experience in the mortgage industry
- Knowledge of GNMA, FHLMC, and FNMA
- Extraordinary attention to detail
- Ability to work and to deliver content under tight deadlines
- Ability to work independently
