- Excellent understanding of all loan types (FHA, VA, Conventional, USDA, etc.) and product offerings.
- Understanding of loan documentation requirements such as income, assets, credit, appraisal/property, title insurance, property insurance and compliance.
- Ability to perform loan calculations including LTV, CLTV, DTI, income, reserves, and residual income.
- Ability to read and understand tax returns including self-employed tax returns.
- Ability to read and analyze loan applications, automated underwriting findings, credit reports, verification of income and assets, all property appraisal types, UCDP, CU, compliance reports, fraud/identity verification reports and title reports.
- Understanding of disclosure requirements including TRID, RESPA, TILA, and other federal and state regulations.
- Understanding of final closing documents (notes, trust deeds, transfer deeds, etc.).
- Understanding of underwriting and investor guidelines and policies.
- Understanding of fraud detection and prevention.
- Computer competency including Microsoft office products.
- Ability to interact and communicate verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner with corporate and branch employees, customers, and investors.
- Min 3-5 years mortgage auditing or underwriting experience.
- Experience with Encompass and ACES a plus.
- Ability to prioritize work tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and organization skills.
- Ability to handle stressful situations.
- Self-motivation with the ability to complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
