Primary Services is excited to announce the role of Indirect Tax Accountant for a major client in the energy sector. In this role, you will oversee critical tax compliance functions, including preparation, filing, and reconciliation of indirect taxes. You’ll support audits, ensure regulatory compliance, and provide insights to resolve complex tax issues.
Responsibilities
- Manage indirect tax compliance, including sales and use tax, gross receipts tax, utility tax, and excise tax filings.
- Ensure timely and accurate filing and payment for all transaction-based tax returns.
- Assist with state and local tax audits, providing necessary documentation and support.
- Conduct research on tax issues and provide actionable recommendations.
- Perform tax account reconciliations and prepare use tax reversals.
- Review exemption certificates, business registrations, and tax refunds.
- Maintain and adhere to internal controls and compliance documentation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred.
- At least 5 years of experience in public accounting or industry tax roles.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, SAP, and tax return software (OneSource preferred).
- Strong understanding of indirect tax compliance processes.
- Proven accounting skills with the ability to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality work.
- Familiarity with Alteryx is a plus.
