In this role, you will be key in shaping the safety culture and operations for a major LNG project, ensuring safe practices across all operation phases.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and manage a safety strategy aligned with the company’s overall business objectives and safety initiatives.
- Develop and manage a comprehensive 5-year Health, Safety, and Security (HS&S) plan, ensuring alignment with company goals and key milestones.
- Create and manage the facility's annual safety budget, ensuring optimal resource allocation.
- Oversee and execute site-specific safety strategies and operational action plans in collaboration with operational and line management.
- Lead safety training programs and promote continuous development of safety knowledge and behaviors through coaching and mentoring.
- Manage and improve Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental standards by implementing industry best practices.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable legal, regulatory, and internal safety standards and requirements.
- Provide expert guidance on incident investigations, ensuring timely closure of corrective actions, particularly for significant incidents.
- Lead the Site Emergency Response function, including directing emergency response teams and overseeing Incident Command duties.
- Manage performance reporting and KPIs for executive leadership, ensuring regular updates on safety performance.
- Oversee regulatory reporting to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety requirements.
- Drive the Behavioral Based Safety (BBS) program, leading safety campaigns to foster a strong safety culture.
- Manage the company’s HSSE Management software, including Incident Reporting, Job Safety Analysis, and Permit to Work systems.
- Coordinate internal audits and support external audits by regulatory agencies, clients, and others.
- Ensure all safety-related equipment is regularly inspected and compliant with regulatory standards.
- Implement initiatives to reduce work-related accidents and occupational hazards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field; CSP, CIH, or equivalent certification preferred.
- Incident investigation certification is a plus.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in senior management or operations positions within safety and environmental roles.
- Must hold a valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card.
- Proven ability to lead and develop safety teams, fostering a positive safety culture.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively interact across all levels of the organization and with external agencies.
- Organized and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously with competing deadlines.
- Extensive knowledge of industry regulations and best practices in health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work in high-heat environments while wearing required PPE, including flame-resistant clothing.
- Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 25 pounds and climb multiple stairs within the facility.
- Must be available to respond to incidents within 2 hours of notification, 24/7.
