Position Overview:
Primary Services is seeking a highly skilled and analytical Senior Financial Analyst (FP&A) for a client in Houston to drive insights into operational, logistical, and financial performance across our organization. This role plays a critical part in supporting profitability initiatives, ensuring data accuracy, and delivering both strategic and routine business analysis. The ideal candidate will blend financial acumen with strong data skills to help shape key business decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop a strong understanding of the company’s financial framework and leverage that knowledge to deliver meaningful financial analysis.
- Prepare and distribute monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, and support budgeting and forecasting efforts.
- Conduct financial and economic evaluations to support strategic initiatives, including mergers, acquisitions, and capital investments.
- Analyze operational and logistical metrics—such as barge utilization and contract profitability—to identify opportunities for improved efficiency and margin enhancement.
- Lead efforts to streamline processes and recommend improvements for business practices and workflows.
- Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of cost and pricing models, and collaborate with the Logistics team to support data-driven planning and decision-making.
- Extract and analyze data from various systems, including asset management tools and compliance databases, to produce actionable insights.
- Work closely with IT and Logistics to evolve reporting systems and dashboards using tools like Tableau and SQL.
- Partner with the Accounting team to align financial reporting with key operational metrics.
- Deliver well-prepared analyses and financial models to senior leadership, particularly in support of bid submissions, with a strong focus on quality control and accuracy.
- Perform additional duties as assigned, supporting broader team goals and corporate initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or a related field—or equivalent professional experience.
- 6 years of progressive experience in financial planning and analysis, including 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- 4 years of hands-on experience with Tableau or similar BI platforms.
- Advanced proficiency in SQL and data manipulation.
- Highly organized, self-driven, and resourceful problem solver.
- Strong analytical mindset and a passion for uncovering actionable insights.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master of Business Administration (MBA).
- Prior FP&A leadership experience in the transportation or marine logistics sector.
- Expertise in business intelligence tools and SQL.
- Familiarity with financial planning software, especially Planful (formerly Host Analytics).
