Primary Talent Partners has a new Transmission Line Design engineering opening with a large utility client of ours in Charlotte, NC. This will be a 12 month, FT W2 contract role with high potential for extensions and/or conversions. The role is hybrid, and only local candidates are being considered at this time.
Pay: $82 - $94/hr based on experience; W2 contract, no PTO, no Benefits. ACA-compliant supplemental package available for enrollment.
Schedule: Hybrid role requiring 3 days onsite per week. M to F, normal business hours.
Description:
This position provides design, engineering and technical expertise for transmission line design and will primarily support the Carolinas West region. Applicants must be familiar with Transmission Line engineering theories and principles and be proficient in the practice of engineering to solve complex problems. Employees at this level solve complex problems, manage work, and provide leadership to others in engineering areas of specialization, with minimal supervision and increased latitude for un-reviewed work. Employees at this level serve in lead roles and provide guidance to others. They are also expected to have advanced skills and have the ability to work independently.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provides engineering/technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of complex problems in area of transmission line design with the ability to visualize long-term results and assess impacts on a system-wide basis.
• Analyzes scenarios, evaluates options and performs design calculations to comply with design standards, applicable codes and sound engineering practices. Area of responsibility include support of transmission line routing/siting, transmission line design, structural design for transmission structures and foundations, construction support and other similar activities.
• Ensures accomplishment of transmission line projects and overall business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring of work activities where only limited standardization exists; handles differing situations which require searching for solutions within area of expertise.
• Prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations and drawings with the ability to conduct analysis and recommend process enhancements and standards relative to transmission line design.
• Conducts engineering and related studies with full technical responsibility for planning and coordinating complex projects; applies extensive technical expertise to manage projects and disseminate knowledge to enhance the organizational unit's competitive position.
• Possesses and applies a broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures; demonstrates ability to analyze and recommend enhancements to business processes and develops standards relevant to area of assignment. Keeps abreast of new developments, technologies procedures and equipment.
• Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities.
• Demonstrates the ability to work with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic backgrounds.
• Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills. Maintains accurate records and files.
• Coaches and mentors other engineering and non-degreed engineering professionals.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program AND/or a PE
A Master's degree in Engineering will be considered in lieu of the B.S. Engineering degree.
• 10 plus years related work experience
• Professional Engineer (PE)
• Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or Masters degree in Civil Engineering
• Skilled in transmission line design theories and principles.
• Skilled in transmission line design software; e.g. PLS-CADD, PLS-TOWER, PLS-Pole, Foundation Design Software
• Skilled in engineering theories and principles
• Skilled in the practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations and preparing and presenting recommendations.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Skilled principles of project management.
• Experience in the utility industry
