Primary Talent Partners has a 6 month W2 contract Fiber Engineer opening with a telecommunications client based out of Doral, FL. This position will operation on a hybrid basis with potential for contract extension or direct-hire conversion.
Pay : $41 to $46 / hr ; W2 contract, no PTO, no Benefits. ACA-compliant supplemental package available for enrollment.
Schedule : Hybrid. WFH on Monday and Friday. In the office Tuesday through Thursday.
Description :
We are seeking an experienced Fiber Engineer to join our team. This role is responsible for all aspects of fiber design, allocation, route design, and map creation. The position involves working on customer-funded projects and company initiatives such as network expansion, overbuilds, and municipal projects. If you have strong experience in OSPI / GIS Telecom, 5 years in Telecom, and an understanding of ISP / OPS Telecom Drawings, we’d love to hear from you!
Key Responsibilities :
- Attend project kick-off meetings for new backbone, lateral, and riser fiber requirements.
- Design backbone fiber routes using GIS tools (QGIS, OSPI, 3GIS, ARC MAP, etc.).
- Complete cost requests for sales engineering and provide firm pricing for splicing needs.
- Obtain or create circuit identifiers as required.
- Develop fiber design maps for A-Z fiber locations.
- Design fiber routes and create necessary splicing prints and work orders.
- Assign fiber to the construction team for lateral connections to the final demark panel.
- Submit and manage purchase orders for vendor payments.
- Handle change management notifications and field activity compliance.
- Provide final DLRs and test shots for provisioning and project closeout.
- Approve vendor invoices and oversee financial aspects of the project.
- Collaborate closely with Fiber Construction Managers.
- Plan network augments based on high-utilization fiber routes.
- Participate in an on-call rotation for emergency and trouble response.
- Work jointly with NOC, Field Operations, and Change Management teams to mobilize repair crews for fiber impairments.
