Job Title: Lineman- Transmissions
Reports to: Crew Foreman- Transmissions
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Work Schedule: Full Time
Position Summary:
The Transmission Lineman is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of high-voltage electrical transmission systems. This role requires extensive experience, a strong commitment to safety, and the ability to work in various outdoor environments, often in challenging weather conditions. The Transmission Lineman works under the direction of the Transmission Crew Foreman to complete tasks efficiently while ensuring compliance with company standards and safety regulations.

Essential Functions:
Installation & Maintenance: Install, maintain, and repair high-voltage transmission lines, equipment, and structures, including towers, poles, insulators, conductors, and other electrical components.
Climbing & Working at Heights: Climb transmission towers and poles or operate aerial lift trucks to perform work at elevated heights, following all safety protocols.
Troubleshooting & Repairs: Identify, troubleshoot, and repair faults and outages in high-voltage transmission systems, using testing equipment to ensure proper voltage and functionality.
Safety Compliance: Strictly adhere to safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), maintaining minimum approach distances, and following company and regulatory safety guidelines for high-voltage work.
Equipment Operation: Operate heavy equipment, tools, and machinery such as bucket trucks, digger derricks, crimping tools, tensioners, and pullers for transmission line work.
Wire & Cable Work: String, splice, and connect high-voltage wires and cables, perform terminations on transmission lines, and work with conductor bundles.
Communication: Communicate effectively with the Transmission Crew Foreman and other crew members to ensure clear understanding and execution of tasks.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and any issues encountered.
Other Functions:
Participate in training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge of high-voltage transmission systems, safety practices, and equipment operation.
Assist with other tasks and projects as directed by the Transmission Crew Foreman.
Work collaboratively with team members to complete assignments efficiently.
Position Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required.
Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required.
Experience & Skills:
Minimum of 3 years of experience as a lineman working on high-voltage transmission lines is required; 5 years of experience and completion of a U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) lineman apprenticeship program preferred.
Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, electrical schematics, and work orders.
Strong knowledge of high-voltage electrical transmission systems, safety regulations, and best practices.
Ability to climb poles/towers and work at elevated heights for extended periods.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
