Director Research – Private Equity

The Job

The Director Research, Private Capital is responsible for sourcing private equity investment opportunities through an established network of manager relationships. The role involves developing and maintaining a forward-looking pipeline of private capital ideas, including funds currently in the market or expected to launch within the next year. This person will spearhead due diligence and third-party manager recommendations while playing a key role in building market maps across major private capital strategies. This position will be based in either our Portsmouth, NH, or Boston office.

What You’ll Do

• Develop and sustain a pipeline of investment ideas that are either currently in the market or expected to enter within the next 12 months
• Facilitate third-party manager recommendations and due diligence
• Spearhead the creation of market maps for each major strategy
• Prepare clear and comprehensive due diligence reports on managers, including qualitative and quantitative factors
• Assist in client private capital implementation processes, including portfolio construction analysis and fund recommendations
• Engage in various firm-wide private capital initiatives, including asset class assumptions, review ongoing system improvements, and participate in internal asset class committees
• Be a subject matter expert regarding private capital for both internal colleagues as well as external clients

What You’ll Bring

• Bachelor’s degree required; MBA, CFA, or CAIA designation (or progress toward these credentials) preferred
• 10 years financial industry experience, with specialized experience in segments of the private capital markets (i.e., venture capital, growth equity, buyouts, credit); Candidates who have experience underwriting co-investment opportunities preferred
• Established network in private capital, including general partners, placement agents, and limited partners
• Experience using Quickbase, Tableau, Pitchbook, Refinitiv, or other private capital data and analytics providers
• Ability to travel 20% for manager and client meetings, conferences, etc.
