What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safety Technician position at Prime Controls?
Summary:
Primarily responsible for onsite safety efforts for Prime Controls' customer site, as well as administration and execution of Prime Controls' ES&H Programs as contracted by scope. This position will report and work daily with Prime Safety and Project Management.
Qualifications and Prerequisites:
- Pass Prime Controls' interview and possibly an interview with the GC over 1926 standards.
- Have an OSHA 30 in construction completed within the last three years; and an OSHA 500 / 502 valid certificate of completion.
- Or: CHST, OHST, STS, ASP designation from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals.
- Has two to three years of experience in industrial, electrical, and safety around facility critical infrastructure construction.
- Able to pass a seven-year background check.
- Experience working with a large subcontractor force.
- Applicable working knowledge of Incident Reporting and Accident Response.
- Exhibit integrity, flexibility, initiative, and adherence to company policies and programs always.
- Clear and concise communication, both written and oral.
- Ability to effectively work with all levels or divisions on-site, in meetings, and within Prime Controls.
- Competent computer skills in Microsoft Office applications and emails.
Administrative Duties and Responsibilities:
- Promote Prime Controls' award-winning “Safety Culture” and "Standards".
- Observe safe work practices and present opportunities for improvement. Mentor employees and encourage their safe work practices, following Stop Work Authority.
- Generate, observe, inspect, and close job permits, audits, toolboxes, work-safe observations, and orientations.
- Perform health and safety program auditing.
- Assist in incident investigations and emergency response.
- Attend safety meetings and convey information to the project team and corporate.
- Complete other projects as assigned.
Language Ability:
Read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Write routine reports and correspondence. Speak effectively with customers or employees. Bilingual preferred.
Math Ability:
Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability:
Prioritize and solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills:
Windows and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Adobe, Power Point and Outlook)
