- Monitor operating conditions, pumps, meters, and gauges
- Adjust chemical injection and aeration as needed for compliance treatment of wastewater in accordance with applicable laws and IEPA regulations.
- Collect daily and test water samples for MLSS, COD and pH
- Operate equipment to clarify water and dispose of sludge
- Ensure oil recycling is being properly performed and collection recorded
- Calibrate, test, and record lab equipment
- Jet and maintain lines for proper flow as designated
- Clean and maintain equipment, tanks, and other work areas
- Take corrective action where appropriate, report equipment malfunctions, adjust various machinery and equipment to ensure proper and efficient operation
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance tasks on equipment and machinery including greasing and changing oil. Repairing pumps, motors, compressors, aerators, filters, air lines, and high-pressure water hoses. Repair and maintain meters, gauges, gear reducers, and other plant and facility equipment.
- Keep records on operations, maintenance, and equipment servicing for the life of the equipment
- Perform various task using a variety of manual and powered equipment including, but not limited to: forklift, scissor lift, jetter, shovel, power saws, ladder, lawn mower, snowplow etc.
- Respond to situations such as equipment failures and permit compliance
- Enter and work in permitted confined spaces
- Maintain an awareness of worker safety guidelines and procedures and apply these in performing daily activities and task, adhere to all safety policies
- Grounds Maintenance, including but limited to: mowing, weed eating, trimming, landscaping, leaf blowing, snow & ice removal and treatment, etc.

Building Maintenance, including general building upkeep repairs such as:
- Painting, sheetrock wall repairs, ceiling tiles, door / door closure repairs, etc.
- Minor plumbing repairs, including fixtures (sinks, faucets, showers, toilets, etc.)
- Upkeep on Driver Laundry equipment (washer and dryers)
- Minor electrical & lighting repairs
- Building and equipment inspections, repairs as needed.

Ability to develop operational understanding of building systems such as:
- Building HVAC systems (Boiler snow melt & radiant floor heat, A/C units & Building Automation System Controls)
- Overhead Door operations, with minor repairs (coordinating repairs with OHD Vendor as needed)
- Peacock Wash Equipment & Boilers
- Air Compressor
Coordinate sub-contractor technical repairs for Building Roofing, Electrical, HVAC, and Plumbing as required.
Knowledge
Grounds maintenance knowledge is a plus. Also understanding how to use and operate lawn care equipment is required. Painting, sheetrock, and general building maintenance knowledge and experience is a plus.
Abilities
Must have a strong work history. The work can be repetitive and physically demanding. Must be able to communicate effectively with supervisor and co-workers. Must be able to work independently and also part of a team environment.
Experience, Education, and Training
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Requirements
This position requires constant standing, walking, forward reaching, pedal control and grasping; frequent head turning, bending, kneeling, stooping, squatting, handling, climbing and reaching. Candidate must be able to lift and carry 50lbs and also push and pull a push mower seasonally. Must be able to climb stairs or ladder rungs. Must be able to detect and differentiate colors.
Working Environment
Both indoor and outdoor working environment with exposure to varying weather conditions and chemical odors.
Licensing/Certification
Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and reliable transportation to and from work.
