Job Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Maintenance Technician in the printing industry to oversee repairs and operations of our plant’s machinery, physical structures, plumbing and electrical systems. The ideal candidate will adapt to our equipment to improve functionality and production efficiency. During the engineer’s absence, the Director of Operations will be on-call for overall building maintenance inquiries, including contacting third-party service providers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Repairs and maintains machines and equipment, replacing defective parts and adjusting where required.
- Keeps scheduled maintenance log up to date.
- Refers to maintenance work order request log.
- Inspects physical condition of facility and equipment.
- Prepares work orders for repairs and requisitions for replacement parts.
- Approves and periodically evaluates suppliers to validate that products and parts meet specifications and are safe for manufacturing food contact packaging.
- Confers with department heads to ensure proper maintenance scheduling.
- Lubricates machine parts, using food safe grease and other food safe lubricants.
- Replaces machine belts.
- Assists with plant layout and moving equipment.
- Maintains floor scrubber and other material moving equipment.
- Manages security entrances to building.
- Connects wires to motors, fixtures, and other electrical equipment
- Replaces fuses, switches, and sensors.
- Patches or replaces wall board and paints walls, ceilings, and trim of building (as required).
- Clears clogged drains and cleans periodically to mitigate pests.
- Approves maintenance-related contract service providers.
- Controls set-up of newly acquired machinery.
- Performs daily cleaning to procedure, including necessary documentation of completion.
- Supports and drives food safety by participating as a HAACP Team member.
- Complies with and understands the Food Safety Procedures and Policies.
- Complies with all plant safety rules and regulations.
- Complies with all company rules and regulations
- Performs other duties as needed to achieve the overall goals and objective of the company.
- Team member on Business Continuity planning and crisis management.
Requirements:
- Computer skills
- Flexographic printing press knowledge
- Electrical troubleshooting and repair
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Valid Driver’s License
- High School Diploma
- Ability to use hand tools
- Ability to use power tools
- Ability to use welding machine
- Ability to use drill press
This position requires strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Further, it requires strong organizational skills and the ability to work well with operations departments and peers. Background/experience in printing (preferably flexographic) is preferred. Candidates with mechanical, electrical or engineering certifications will be highly considered.
