PRIME Occupational Medicine’s Mission:

This temporary position will be located inside of the Exxon Refinery in Baton Rouge, LA. The ideal candidate must have availability to work 12-hour shifts Monday - Sunday. The day shift will be from 6am-6pm; the night shift will be from 6pm-6am.
Objectives of this role: Provide treatment, such as first aid or life support care, to sick or injured patients. Prepare patients for and safely transport them to the emergency department of a hospital or other healthcare facility. Document and report observations and any treatment provided, to physicians, nurses, or other healthcare staff.
Responsibilities:
- Provide information, services, and assistance to clients and patients in an on-site setting and or a PRIME clinic.
- Administers treatment of work-related injuries and evaluates and documents its effectiveness.
- Performs client services related to PRIME’s, Occupational Health and safety policies and protocols.
- Ensure jobs and duties are in compliance with PRIME’s policies and procedures.
- Maintains medical supplies inventory and performs preventive maintenance to keep medical equipment operating.
- Verifies patient information, medical histories by interviewing patients, documenting medical history, and confirming purpose of visit at a on-site setting and at a PRIME clinic if needed.
- Prepares clients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; DOT & Non-DOT drug & alcohol screening, audiograms, EKG’s, pulmonary function test, respirator fit test; and reporting patient history summary.
- Perform phlebotomy service and give injections and vaccinations.
- Secures patient information and maintains patient confidentiality by completing and safeguarding medical records within PRIME’s and or the client’s electronic system.
- Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.
- Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calibration checks.
- Improves job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications.
- Protects the practice by adhering to professional standards. Updating and filing medical records according to facilities policies/procedures, state, federal/guidelines/regulations/laws.
- Enhances practice reputation by accepting ownership of all performed duties while providing value to the organization.
- Attend to injuries or sudden illnesses by applying a variety of pre-hospital simple and advanced treatments (first aid, CPR, administering injections and oxygen etc.) or surgical procedures
- Attend training and seminars
- Provide inter-facility transport to patients who require EKG monitoring, medication infusion
- May be required to travel
- May be required to work overtime, weekends and holidays
- Must be available to work a variety of shifts including days, nights and weekend

Physical Demands: Standing and walking long distances for prolonged periods of time, lift, carry push, pull or otherwise move objects up to 200 pounds. Good vision. Stamina and endurance to life and transport patients. Kneel, bend, or work in awkward positions. Must be physically coordinated to perform required tasks to precision. Perform sporadic high physical exertion tasks, such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Repetitive motion. Extensive use of computers and keyboard. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading. Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Must have the ability to lift patients, packages and other items, to walk and stand for long distances, and drive a vehicle.
