We are seeking a motivated and skilled Orthodontic Assistant to join our team and help us deliver top-notch care to our patients. This is a traveling position between our Newport News, Williamsburg and Gloucester locations.
Job Description:
We are looking for a detail-oriented and enthusiastic Orthodontic Assistant to support our orthodontists in providing high-quality care to our patients. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of orthodontic procedures, excellent communication skills, and a passion for helping others.
Responsibilities:
- Patient Care: Assist orthodontists with patient examinations, records, and treatment procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety at all times.
- Clinical Duties: Prepare and maintain orthodontic instruments and equipment, assist with appliance placements, adjustments, and removals, and take X-rays and photographs as needed.
- Treatment Planning: Aid in the creation and adjustment of orthodontic appliances, including braces, aligners, and retainers.
- Patient Education: Provide patients and their families with information about orthodontic procedures, oral hygiene practices, and aftercare instructions.
- Administrative Tasks: Schedule patient appointments, manage patient records, and handle billing and insurance processing as needed.
- Sterilization and Infection Control: Adhere to strict infection control protocols, ensuring a clean and sterile work environment.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with orthodontists and other team members to ensure seamless patient care and practice operations.
Qualifications:
- Certification: Certification as an orthodontic assistant (COA) preferred but not required; relevant certification or willingness to obtain certification is a plus.
- Experience: Previous experience as an orthodontic assistant or dental assistant preferred.
- Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work well with patients of all ages, and proficiency in using orthodontic tools and technology.
- Attention to Detail: Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail in both clinical and administrative tasks.
- Flexibility: Ability to adapt to the needs of a growing practice and willingness to take on new challenges.
