Job Title : Phlebotomist
Location : Augusta, ME 04330
Duration : 1 Year or Full time (options for 26 weeks contract)
Start Date : April 2025
Shift Schedule : 8 : 00 AM 4 : 30 PM (Monday through Friday)
Qualification :
Certifications : Phlebotomist (BLS - Good to have)
Experience : Must have 2 years of recent Phlebotomy experience
Responsibilities :
Perform blood collection requiring knowledge of clinical science to understand the multiplicity of tests and specimen requirements, the mechanics of venipuncture and patient preparation.
Perform phlebotomy to obtain patient specimens for laboratory testing including blood cultures and compatibility samples.
Accession and receive samples into VA laboratory information system package for in house testing or send outs to reference laboratories.
Instruct patients in proper collection of 24-hour urine and other samples collected at home.
Transport specimens to the laboratory including those requiring special handling.
