We are looking for a Data Scientist that will work on modeling and metric development initiatives to shape our understanding customers' engagement with Prime Video, and help unlock new opportunities to elevate customer experiences.
Key job responsibilities
You will work closely with Scientists and Economists to develop, evaluate, and operationalize new metrics to measure the impact of our product launches on customers’ streaming needs and business outcomes. You will work on large, complex datasets to develop models which will provide data-driven insights into customers' streaming behaviors. You will identify simple and inventive approaches to increase the operational efficiency of models and metrics. You will collaborate with product leaders on deep dives whose outcomes will influence feature launch decisions.
A successful candidate for this role has excellent communication skills, especially with non-technical audiences. They are agile and capable of adapting to a fast-paced environment. They work effectively on a team of scientists, and use their technical judgment to drive meaningful discussions. They have a passion for solving customer problems, and have an excellent track-record on delivering impactful projects, simplifying their approaches where necessary. They work independently, but seek peer and stakeholder input and alignment on solution design decisions.
About The Team
The Content Discovery and Experimentation Science team is a central team of Scientists and Economists that provides its expertise and leadership on online experimentation within Prime Video. The team owns metrics used to measure and protect customer and business outcomes through experiments. The team also develops models that facilitate a better understanding of customers’ needs, and works closely with Prime Video teams in identifying and valuing product opportunities that deliver new experiences for our customers.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $125,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $212,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. - 3 years of data querying languages (e.g. SQL), scripting languages (e.g. Python) or statistical/mathematical software (e.g. R, SAS, Matlab, etc.) experience
- 2 years of data scientist experience
- 3 years of machine learning/statistical modeling data analysis tools and techniques, and parameters that affect their performance experience
- Bachelor's degree
- Experience applying theoretical models in an applied environment
- Experience in Python, Perl, or another scripting language
- Experience in a ML or data scientist role with a large technology company
