Prime Video is disrupting traditional media with an ever-increasing selection of movies, TV shows, Emmy Award winning original content, add-on subscriptions including HBO and Showtime, and live events like Thursday Night Football. Making great content available to customers, with high availability is just one part of the puzzle. Experimenting with different ways of making this content available to customers is equally important.
Who We Are
Linear (24/7 Television or broadcast programming) is one of the key options for Prime Video customers. Although video on demand is on the rise, the global viewing hours weighs in favor of live or scheduled TV and OTT linear streaming is predicted to grow by 64% in next two years. It is Day 1 for the linear TV experience on Prime Video.
Our team is responsible for Prime Video Linear experiences across iOS, Android and Fire TV customer experiences. We are coders and crafts people who care as much about how things look and feel as to the way they function and perform. Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. - Strong background in OO design.
- Solid time mgmt./communication skills (both written and orally)
- Ability to support multiple projects at a time.
- Brings strong opinions but loosely held. (Lets best idea rise to the top.)
- Comfort adapting to new development environments and changing business requirements, learning new systems, creating reliable/maintainable code, and finding creative and scalable solutions to difficult problems.
- Own architecture and feature development for our Android/Fire TV apps and middle-tier web services. The tech stack for Android is Java/Kotlin. The backend stack is also in Java, Kotlin, AWS services.
- Partner with other engineers to ideate, design, and build scalable software solutions.
- Drive test and release automations to increase system reliability and speed to market.
- Collaborate with product managers to influence decisions that deliver customer value.
- Shape the future of Amazon’s mobile video platform.
- 3 years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2 years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
- 3 years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
