Position Summary

The Vulnerable Populations Medical Director is a member of the health center leadership team and provides leadership, guidance and motivation to ensure the best environment for quality patient-centered care. The Vulnerable Populations Medical Director will lead and oversee the development and implementation of healthcare services for high-risk patients in a non-traditional setting. This role requires a dynamic leader with a passion for serving marginalized communities, particularly those affected by substance use disorders and housing instability.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the establishment and ongoing management of healthcare services at stabilization-housing sites and within the medically assisted treatment (MAT) sites.
  • Provide clinical leadership and oversight for all healthcare services, ensuring the highest standards of care.
  • Collaborate with medical staff to develop and maintain treatment protocols and care pathways tailored to the needs of vulnerable populations.
  • Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment that encourages professional development and team cohesion.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community partners, stakeholders, and local agencies to enhance service delivery and community support.
  • Advocate for the needs and rights of vulnerable populations within the community and with policymakers.
  • Implement and monitor quality improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient outcomes.
  • Analyze data and metrics to assess program effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
  • Identify and pursue funding opportunities, including grants, to support program sustainability and growth.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and Chief Behavioral Health Officer (CBHO) on programmatic and organizational needs.
  • Develop and periodically review written clinical policies, guidelines, and protocols for the functioning of the sites supporting vulnerable populations, and communicate to clinicians.

Required Skills or Abilities

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with primary care staff, residents, patients, and other staff.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with diverse team members and patients.
  • Proficient in the use of computers and Microsoft Office.
  • Proficient in the use of an electronic health record, preferably Athena.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Experience, or Licensure

  • Medical provider with unrestricted, active Illinois practice and controlled substance license, as well as federal DEA.
  • Must maintain full credentials and privileges to practice with PrimeCare Health.
  • Demonstrated experience in MAT services and substance use disorder (SUD) treatment, with a certification in Addiction Medicine preferred.
  • Board certified in family medicine or internal medicine.
  • Solid knowledge of healthcare regulations and best practices for serving transient and/or underserved populations.
  • Current provider-level CPR certification required.
  • Prior clinic leadership experience beneficial.

Salary

All wages are based on relevant years of experience. The minimum rate is the wage a candidate with who just completed residency will earn.

Salary : $173,200 - $210,000
